The 1592 series cable is a USB (Universal Serial Bus) type A A (host-to-host) cable. It is designed to connect two USB devices each with an A type connector.

This is an uncommon cable, and has only very specific applications. It is most often used in situations where a panel-mounted USB A-type jack connects directly to a device that normally has a B-type connector; in this case, the device's B-type has been changed to an A-type so the usual A-to-B cable would need to change to an A-to-A cable.

It is also possible that a USB accessory might have an A-type uplink connector on it, but this is rare. The standard practice of USB is that the upstream (host) end uses an A-type connector while the downstream (device) end uses a B-type connector. This is why most USB hubs have many A-type jacks for connecting other devices but only one B-type jack for connecting to the computer.

This cable will not allow two computers (or two hosts of any description) to directly interface with each other, unless you are writing specific device drivers yourself. If you need to network two computers via USB, you will need an electronic USB Peer-to-Peer Link Cable, which also requires a software intermediary to function.

The 1592-series USB A A cable is compatible with USB 2.0, for high-speed data transfers.

Please note that if you would like to extend your USB connection more than 15 feet from source to device, you'll need to use an active USB booster cable or active USB booster.
